Both shows have had an impact on the world. They both have similar events in there shows. The two shows are The Truman show and The Giver. They experience similar events and they both find out in the worst way about their hidden lives.
In Jonas’s community they have some similarities with The Truman show but in Jonas’s community there are many clues that you can find. One of them was when the plane flew over Jonas’s community when it wasn't meant to. Another one is that the Elders control the weather in the community. Jonas starts to find out about everything the community has hiding from the people when he was only 12 years old. Jonas also sees proof of what they do when people get released.
There are also a few emotions between the shows. In Jonas’s community they have to take pills called Stirrings to control their feelings for one another. When Jonas finds out about the truth of the community he gets very upset and angry. In the community the Elders control on who the people should be with and what kids they should have, and how many which they decided on 2 kids per family, a boy and a girl.
In the plot of Jonas’s community the Elders control everything that happens. When Jonas was born he was put up for adoption. When Jonas makes a plan to escape no one knows his plan except the Giver and Jonas but Jonas did not know what he would experience or see outside of his community. Jonas knows everything that the others don’t know.
On the other hand Truman experiences similar events as Jonas but a lot of the clues are the same in different ways. When Truman walks outside and the light just fell from the sky, after that he started getting suspicious. When Truman goes to the beach it starts raining really hard on Truman but it’s just on him and it follows him around. In the Truman show they also control the weather. For Truman this whole huge closed up stage with all actors around him follow him with hidden cameras. Truman started asking questions when he was 30 years old. At one point when Truman is in the car the radio station changes and he hears the actors talking about him and he goes to his work and try’s to go up the elevator but behind the door was the resting point for the actors, and those are only 2 reasons of when he gets the clue that everything is set up. Another one is when he is looking through wedding pictures and he sees a picture where there kissing and she’s crossing her fingers.
For Truman there are also emotions that happen or are controlled. The actors and the director control who Truman marries and everything and everyone he meets. When he finds out about what they’re doing he also gets angry and upset.
